Volunteer

Welcome, Parents & Guardians!

Some cars run on gas, some cars run on electricity—we run on parents, grandparents, and guardians. All the adults who love and care for  Liberty students are welcome to participate in LEAF, our parent-teacher organization.

There are so many ways to pitch in!

Lend a hand with a future event (Fun Fair, Black History Month, Skate Night, etc.), or with general duties that keep our parent-teacher organization humming along (communications, fundraising, leadership). More details below! (Questions? Contact us!)

Tell me more!

Here are a few ways parents and guardians can volunteer for LEAF.  And we're always open to new ideas! For more information,

attend one of our monthly meetings (online or in person—dinner & childcare provided!) or contact us!

Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is the district's mechanism for ensuring that parents are informed and can help develop programming and policy. If you’re interested in representing Liberty at this monthly meeting, contact Ms. Z: lzwieryznski1@pghschools.org

LEAF President & Vice President

This is a team effort! The President and Vice President oversee the organization of LEAF, which includes the following (how to operate is also described in our LEAF manual).

  • They set the schedule for the year, in coordination with the other officers and school administration; the schedule includes a monthly meeting (in coordination with the Liberty PSCC meeting - Parent School Community Committee) and Liberty family events (first day of school for kindergarten, family fridays, Dia de los Muertos, Fun Fair, Craft Night, Game Night, Ice Skating Night).
  • For monthly meetings, the President and VP set the agenda, run the meeting, and elicit parent feedback.
  • Serve as a point-of-contact for parent and teacher questions about the organization.
  • Work with the Communications Director on content and timing of newsletters and flyers.
  • Coordinate teacher appreciation events several times through the year.
